Roots inside the netpots above waterlevel in dwc

Basically... Has anyone seen any bad reactions when roots above the waterlevel - like in hydroton filled pots - dry out while the roots in the water are ok? Is that something I should worry about and provide watering for the pots also or will the plants be ok as long as they have enough roots going down in the water?

If there are roots in the water you should be fine...but why are the ones above drying out? If your in DWC you should have enough air churning the water to splash the whole underside of the cover to your bucket/container, along with the roots/net pot/hydroton.
