I thought dispensary experiences were suppose to be pleasant

I visited one on the Denver outskirts. I handed my information to a guy behind bullet proof glass and had $25 1/8 of schwag pushed on me. I'm 100% sure it was Mexican brick. The person claimed that grower was "upset they were selling it for so cheap." Besides the brick weed everything was untrimmed, grade B at best, and $17/g. On first impression I would have walked out, but my adventurous side wanted to see what these people had to offer. My 8 year old nephew could grow better shit with a fisher price junior grow kit.

Anyone want to share a ghetto dispensary experience? How do they even survive with hb 1284 being pushed through?

I go to one in Boulder because the people there have always been super cool to me. I never thought I'd have to do half a deal behind bullet proof glass. I saw D9 on the Daily Show. Seems like an all right dude. What's the prices like there?

truthfully, out of all of the dispensary photos, and videos I have ever seen, not one of them would be the "ideal" dispensary that comes to my mind when I think of "medical" grade marijuana...

I see tie-dyed & bobmarley tapestries, peace signs, hear reggae music blasting, and see hip young youth with their red&blue died mohawks working behind the counters distributing the meds in the backgrounds in most of these dispensaries... COME ON NOW, that is NOT making the whole dispensary scene look good.

When I think dispensary, I think medical. When I think medical, I think "cleanliness" and "purity..." You would think that all of these dispensaries would try to uphold somewhat of a professional image- one that is both clean and pure. A pharmacy is basically what a dispensary can be compared to, since they both sell meds to the public... with that being said, these dispensaries should look like a pharmacy.

You can't tell me that these guys who run these dispensaries don't have the extra cash to spruce up the appearance of the pharmacies and make them more professional with the added touch of some nice furniture, cabinetry, wallpaper, lighting, and overall "professional" interior design...

with that being said, I'd like to make my post a little bit more along the lines of the OP's statement ...

These guys who run the dispensaries should really pay attention to what they are buying in bulk from growers. I am not sure if they have any practices under way where they test for mold, bugs, ripeness, or any unnatural pesticides or chemicals sprayed on, or within the marijuana- but if there is not anything in place, there really should be. I am pretty sure that in canada, they have to have all of their cannabis tested.

selling schwag brick weed to the public and trying to pass it off as medical grade is bologna

I am quite naive when it comes to alot of what the whole medical marijuana industry TRULY is about as I am in a non-med state with draconian laws, and rely on alot of my information from word of mouth (or fingers), but it all does seem quite obvious. I am not the brightest guy out there, and I am not truly THERE, so imagine what a truly bright, "mmj newcomer" man/woman looking into this whole medical marijuana scene here in the states would say?

I just think the owners need to start tightening up their ships if they TRULY want to convince the country that it is not a joke....

this place above is very nice, but i doubt they need to have the bob marley photos on the wall, even though i love the guy - its just not professional in my opinion...

here we have mr "enyce" thuggin it out behind the counter with his gangsta ass ball cap on... unprofessional...

mrs. babba, this is the old dispensary you used to work at, and this is also your photo, if you do not appreciate me using them, i will gladly take them down for you, but I have talked to you about my opinion on the appearance of this place and you know how I feel it needs to be designed a little bit nicer and more professionally... I understand that it takes money to make things look professional, but truthfully, if you are going to start up a business, you should have the money to pay for a professional medical look...

P.S. if someone has pictures of a truly professional dispensary, please share!

Wow... if none of those look professional, I'd say you are probably going to continue being disappointed until you start your own.

Yeah let's make them cold and sterile, hospital like! That will set the mood for a good buzz and positive experience. :bigeye:

Why should a dispensary have to be like a big pharma poison pushing set-up?

see that opinion right there is why they are the way they are... in the big picture, are you really trying to get a good buzz, or are you trying to simply go into a place to get a product that will help alleviate your medical problem?

im not trying to make them like big pharma at all - fuck big pharma, im just saying that they need to be a little bit more professional SIMILAR to a pharmacy..

im not gonna lie, I have seen many "professional" looking dispensary photos- but the unprofessional def. outweigh the professional... maybe all of the professional ones are the ones that continue to operate, and the others are the ones that get busted... who knows

Whats wrong with getting a buzz and helping your medical needs? Are they not one in the same?

Who are "they" to set the standard? Fuck them and their bullshit impersonal big pharma pharmacy.

We are being provided a beautiful herb from nature here, not a pill made in a lab!

I for one like a warm relaxed environment with friendly faces and spaces. :canabis:

i see your point 100%, but I really think your desire to get a buzz in a warm, and relaxed place can be fulfilled in a manner that has never been addressed...

like mr mustard said - i guess the only way for that to happen is for me to do it myself...

there are many things that can be done to create this environment which not only you, but many other patients yearn for- they are a little more complex then hanging a bob marley photo on the wall, and crankin up some sublime tunes...

Dispensarys here are still pretty new, and not very plentiful. There are 5 or 6 in my general area and only one has any clue what they are doing and they are doing it very well.

The best I have heard yet was:

To owner/bud tender:

Me: So are you familiar with alot of strains?
Him: yeah like indoor....pause.....and outdoor.

Was going to list some of my arsenal but I didn't bother. He had some pretty bad weed, everything was fluffy, grassy, 0 trichs, dryed to quickly, might as well be brown weed. Also he was selling mexican brick weed for $10 a gram!!!! That is 280 an ounce!!! LMAO I died inside. He kept talking about thai weed this thai bud that like he still had the direct connection to thailand from the 60's....HAHAHA!

yea you would be surprised at the amount of bullshit at clubs these days...especially when you hear of plentiful kushes etc.

some club owners are newbs in the game...they figured they wanna get rich quick and they never broke down weight before..so they buy some mediocre outdoor and sell it 8th by 8th. the average baby boomer or new card carrier doesnt know the better, so it works for them.

there have been a few instances where i have walked out of clubs in disgust at seeing mediocre outdoor being hawked for 50 an 8th.

keep it underground...i can get zones of club shit for 220 to my homies...i smoke the best for free all day when i pull my harvests or when i break down a really nice P of top notch.

i agree with lil wayne. its a joke the way most dispensaries look and run. i guess as long as any joe schmoe can go to a doctor and get a prescription or recommendation, it will never change. If it was truly just for the sick and people who needed the medicine, there would be no need for bob marley posters and whatnot. Its too big of a joke, who gets a card these days.

No one said cold and sterile, they said professional

Dude-On-Couch atmosphere is not professional. At all. Neither are Bob Marley posters.

It's about gaining support for this movement, not discrediting it in the views of people who we rely on for support to keep these things going.

I thought they all looked pretty pleasant, but they do resemble tattoo/piercing parlors more then pharmacies

I've never been to a dispensary, hell after today bongs are illegal in my state but I do know perception is everything and agree that dispensaries should look more mainstream.I remember seeing a protest in cali where this guy was smoking a blunt and playing the fool.Thats no good for future prospects

I'd take a place with a dog on the couch over bullet proof glass with marble table tops.

My view is perhaps a little too American, but your dispensary should look however you want it to. Enjoy freedom much? Let the unprofessional people go to unprofessional dispensaries.... I'd like to think that anyone could respect the need to feel comfortable.

I'd go to a shitty dive bar where I could bring my dog before I got stuck in some custy martini bar where everything looks "professional".

They don't need to file into a line to look alike, and for fuck's sake don't make it look like a pharmacy.

Taking the life out of it for the sake of professionalism sounds like a final solution.
