Was that last pic of copper tubing your chiller?

Might want to rethink that.

I was going to build my UC system but after pricing it out and my time, I just forked out the bucks. And I am glad I did.

What a nice system, I am pumped and the ladys are pumped as well.. lol Yesterday I have one room up and running with ladies of the Dynamite variety. Clones of my special cross on the way (NYC Diesel male crossed to Dynamite mother). Grew a few test plants out and what a bomber. Knocks you down for 20 minutes than off like a rocket for hours. And who doesnt like sweet earthy smoke!

I used to grow vert in coli's, the way I've seen the raising & lowering done is with a light-rail & pully

I like the light mover idea, now I just want the bulbs to raise and lower all day long every day.

I was thinking about sign and toy applications where I see stuff moving up and down with a small motor. Wouldn't it be cool for the bulbs to run through the garden on a rail and go up and down at the same time but have the up and down motion at a slower or faster pace than the mover so the light bulb was in a different elevation every time it passed a certin spot on the movers path. The thought being having every level of the plant getting blasted with direct light every once in a while and inderect light all the time.

Peace, :joint:

That was going to be my cheap recommendation (SS route).

Wort chillers are tightly wound for better cooling than what you had in there(not even with the copper issue), but you may need to step up to a real chiller if that does not work for you.

thx i do have a chiller in the room though a 1/4 chillin a 100 gallon rez which is how i cool the lights off keeping the room around 78 the coil idea was to ensure that the rez stays in the right temps but you are right the wort chiller will help with this even more!

By your last post I take that to mean you are water cooling your lights? That just looks like a bare vertical bulb to me. If it is the next thing to look at is air cooling the light with a cool tube or home made equivalent and then dropping that light right down to plant height. Some of the best cultivators around use vertical lighting but you need to think about how the bulb emits light. The majority of the light emitted from bulbs comes from the side and not the tip. If you air cool that bad boy (or water cool it if you want to spend the loot) you will be able to utilize 100% of your watts/lumens/$$$$$ and your girls will thank you in massive amounts of sticky yummy goodness.

Veg the BIG

Veg the BIG

If I remember correct you have only 4 plants. My 8gal 8xl UC fits in 50 square feet and I think you have 8x8 or 64square feet. My 8xl has 4 sites in 5'x3' of space. Since you have more gallons and more space per plant you should veg them bigger. I'd say 42" before the flip to 12/12

I also agree on the light cooling and moving up and down and side to side as already posted.

Plain white styrofoam makes simple effective insulation for the tops of your tubs till plants get big, if you need any water cooling, you may not. Looks good, have fun.

Nice set up, I've considered water cooling myself, it seems to answer so many problems with cooling in a closed environment.
What size chiller are you using? And are you happy with it?
