nomaad- i grow in our back yard that’s not fenced in the suburbs, the crooks came from up the hill took the hooch across the neighbor’s property. they took it threw a drainage ditch between the properties and up a steep 6ft dirt incline. are yard is fenced on only 2 sides with a concrete pad to the side open as well the hill going to the neighbors property, our neighbors up the hill can see our plants -their not 30ft from their drive way, probly could smell 'em. They where visable from the street but had some visuam obsticles. if your driving in a big truck you could drive real slow and plot our shit, last year i noticed it from my dad’s truck -stuff wasn’t near as visible. i know a lot of people had been back their for refinances and we had a company for the lawn come earlier in the year.

i cant believe i wasn’t out on the side cause it was the harvest moon -or that was last night.. the fucking thing of it is pulling GDP out of the dirt that they had stomped all over, seeing your grow and many more around these boards makes it easier for me 2 put a smile on. i got a room full of limp branches 1/2 still has big leafs so its a mess, mind you this is a few weeks after reading this story in the times;

I know that you can put strips of wood with nails in them to discourage folks from jumping fences –the bigger and the more nails in the tops of the fence the better

sanchez- I’ve been unemployed, this haul was for our family now we must find ways to fill the gaps recover from surgeries with less meds or just move money a bit more frugal this was supposed to supplement indoor supply and last up threw till next summer or beyond. next year will be a whole nother game, the only way for the unemployed to have green is grow their own or steel someone’s grow. Like the Greatful Dead song went –“one man earns what another man steals”. :violin:

Sorry just looked it up, those lyrics are different but its what I interpreted. I'm always high when I put that stuff on. This whole thread is something to absorb and use 2 self educate, I’m looking into the green house section for winter projects info. I'm building a green house out back just designing/sketching it now.

no way... first off, my bong holds very little water, so if you pull it thru every time, the water becomes gnarly real fast... i pull about 30 small loads a day. when abundance allows (now more than ever) I usually put a small load in the bong, get a nice roast on the top and then dump it into the ash tray. no need to be smoking it to dust or even nasty black rocks. You vaporize most of the THC with the first hit, without reducing the nug to nothing... the bad part of smoking anything is the end of it... all the carcinogens... the tar... the carbon...

Weed Santa has an ashtray with a spike in the center for cleaning out bong slides. its brilliant. you can make one by twisting a wire hanger into a cone, at its fat part about the inside width of the ashtray and tyhen, at the top, when it gets pointy, leave the wire standing straight up.

I dunno... seems like splitting the difference between a bing and vape... which I recognize as the healthiest way to "smoke" the doje... but I also don't think you get the full representation of the smell and taste when vaporizing. I will buy a volcano when I have some extra $, but The bizzong will probably remain my delivery device of choice.

Brilliant! I have been reading my way through your whole thread but I have thought alot about this topic. I too agree, but never had any proof, that most of the THC and other cannabinoids are vaporized within the first hit.I will often politely refuse bowls that have already been hit and usually only vape. This is not a snobbish thing that I do because I don't like the taste but because I want to minimize the amount of net harm I do to myself and combusted plant material devoid of any active chemicals seems rather pointless.

Are you referring to the "debowler"? I heard this was started up in norcal and my friend was supposedly good friends with the inventor and brought a batch down to San Diego about a year ago. Needless to say it is indeed a brilliant yet simplistic invetion. The warning label on the bottom is comical!

Regarding the vaping. Terpenes and such start to volatalize at low temperatures. IIRC below 100... I find with my vape (herbal aire) the first few hits are PACKED with the flavor of the cannabis. The first sip off my vape actually has very little vape and is almost pure flavor. I vape @ 375F and the thermostat keeps the temps within the crucible where the herb is within +- 5 degrees F. Anyways just my 2 cents!

thanks for stopping by, statusquo. I have to admit that I don't have tons of vaporizing experience. I have only used the vapor brothers a bunch of times and a volcano once. I'm going to do some research and get a nice vaporizer. I quit smoking cigs about 5 motnhs ago... next logical step toward good health would be less smoking. I will never give up smoke altogether... can't see it.

sanchez: you have a monkey what?

I believe they are EXTREMELY OVERPRICED. I do not, however, find them to be a complete waste of money. The volcano and the herbalaire are the only two vapes I know that actually have thermostats. Most other vapes (Super silver surfer, hand vapes etc) have knobs that regulate the POWER going to heating element. That is to say, wherever you set the knob is the constant amount of power you are going to get to the heating element. As soon as you draw in cool air through the unit the temp changes.

With vapes like the volcano and herbalaire, you can actually set the temps and vape the desired chemicals. If you just want THC and don't want to feel lazy as shit, I vape around 360. If I want CBD + others as well 380.

I paid 200$ for my herbal air and you can do both direct and bag inhale. The chord is 12 feet long and the unit is very small and easy to pass. Also, I have owned my unit for 3 years and only need to put in about .1g of herb per "bowl". The reason the volcano is so big is because it has an internal motor - with the HA you must use an external pump (i usually just use an aquarium pump) Anyways just my 2 cents... 200 v 500...

Taken from the "Is the volcano a complete waste of money" I have done extensive reading about vapes before I decided on mine. I have used many different styles and brands, many times. Herbal Aire is still my favorite and all around best for the reasons I stated above. Good luck!

Sweet man. Thanks for the info... I think between the two I would go with the Herbal Aire. Its a nice idea to pass bags of vape around, but I have young kids and the idea of them seeing me sucking off a turkey bag 10 times a day doesn't seem right to me. I have been telling them "we don't play with plastic bags" for the last 6 years... kids and mixed messages don't, er, mix. I like the direct feature. Looks like something I can tuck away on my desk and hit direct when I want to in a mostly clandestine manner.

Certainly. A few moons ago (~3 years ago) my mom walked right in probably about 20 seconds after me finishing a vape session. Everything still out. She noticed it smelled, but the vape smell is different - not like herb, and had no clue what the unit was. It is pretty small and discrete.

The unit is only about 8 inches tall and 3.5 inches in diameter maybe. Works very well...efficient and a pleasure to use. I might almost say you have too much weed to vape! You will never get through any of it :) hahah

Edit: I don't work for their company but if you end up getting one and like it please let people know! The herbalAire doesnt get any rep despite its efficacy. I feel that the people that run the company are genuine and offering a much more affordable/solid product. The thing feels very solid. The manufacturing quality is extremely high on this unit - as it is with the volcano - and i've been using it for over 3 years very frequently. Easy to clean too! Ramble over....

thanks guys. and avatars and private messaging priveleges you shall have!

Soulfly: You're right... I am lucky. But I didn't just trip over a log and find myself in the 707 with a half acre of ganja growing in the backyard. For the most part, you make your own luck. Right now, there are thousands of people in the area who have the potential to make as much or more cash than I had in my hands to start this operation up. How many of them will make it happen? Will it be luck or hard work and true focus that set apart those who will be ultimately successful.

I do consider myself lucky that I have a healthy family, smart kids and a wife who has stood by me through this adventure. I'm lucky I have had a lot of positivity in my life and I'm not weighed down by a bunch of baggage that renders me unable to execute in service of my dreams. But luck is not why I'm pulling down a nice big harvest right now.

Luck plays a very small part in what goes on around here. Hard work, determination, and a little help from friends goes a lot farther than luck in these parts. Nomaad, you have inspired a lot of people on this forum. I hope they don't all move into my neighborhood. LOL

I have watched the small community I grew up in become overrun with people, good and bad, flooding the area trying to get in on the gold rush. Now we have more robberies, rip offs, and people bringing in the cops because of stupid illegal grows, than ever. While I respect Nomaad, I know that he has guidance from friends in the area and has done a very respectful and legal medical grow. I have no problem with folks like that, and many of my closest friends came here with that same positive and respectful attitude and have contributed to my community in positive ways. Nomaad has tried to make it quite clear to people that it is not just luck, and not everyone is going to just move here and do what he did. I hope he got that message across. Our jails are full of people who have tried, messed up, gotten greedy, and fallen short. He is an amazing success story but he is also a very inteligent, hard working guy who had good mentors guiding him. He would probably succeed at whatever he chose to do. Not every one is going to have the success he did and I would rather people stop moving to my neighborhood to try and find out.

Sorry if there was too much Localism in that last post. It has been really hard to watch my neighborhood change so much over the years. I have had many friends busted and robbed over the last few years. Most of the time the cops and robbers were brought in by the wrong people and my friends got caught in the cross hairs. You can grow herb anywhere these days. I think if you stay out of the emerald triangle you have a much better chance of pulling it off safely. If you contribute to my community in a positive way I have no beef with you. Peace.
