scrogging???

Can I do a scrog with the netting above the plants on a twelve bucket ebb and flow system? Or would that not be nessasary? I'm going to have the con buckett in the middle and six buckets on each side of it. I will have a 600w hps on each set of six buckets. What are some good strains to scrog with???

You can but, it will lock everything in place. What about maintenance? With the res in the middle, how do you fill or drain when it's covered by screen and plants? What if you need to pull the 3rd bucket from the right side? What's the footprint of the system? If its in a corner or along the wall, can you reach all the way across to ScrOG the far side?

I'd considered at least 2 screens (one for each bank) if not modular (one per bucket). I'd keep it away from the wall for best access all around. Maybe a U shape with res at the far end so you can walk up the middle. If the screens tall enough, maybe an O shape, crawl under, stand up in the middle.

Just give it some thought as to how you'll access things. Once the plants are attached to the screen you're locked in.

You may want to consider moving the control bucket away from the pots to a remote spot along with the rez. Otherwise, your 12 buckets could surely benefit from a trellis.

i am not a expert on anything....:woohoo:

isnt scrogg done with 150hps/175mh or cfls????
in mini grows???

with all that light intensity--,
and cost of electricical--,
wouldnt 24 to 36 inch tall plants give more yield???:yoinks:

While it's heavily favored in the Micro community, along with LST and super cropping, it's not restricted to micro.

A 24-36 inch plant needn't be 24-36 inches tall. My plants are 3-6 feet but, only 12 to 18 inches tall. HID penetration is measured in inches. Why penetrate 36 inches when you only need penetrate 6 inches? By growing horizontally, I kept my 19 inch colas to 6 inches in height.

A trained plant (LST or ScrOG) will far out yield a straight up plant. The main tip tells the rest of the plant to get behind it and stay down. The plant obeys. Cut it off, the next two take over with the same message and again, the plant obeys. BUT, bend the tip and the message gets lost. Now EVERY stem will insist that it's the big bud. Side growth explodes. Because every bud site is equidistant from the lamp, none get short sheeted on light.

Freezer, how do you keep buds from growing under the screen? Even if you trim, buds still grow at the internode where the shoots used to be.

Pinch them off right at the stalk. As long as you get the whole shoot, there's nothing underneath to sprout. I'll let a couple buds grow underneath for test purposes (keeps my hands off the real thing) but, undergrowth is to be avoided. Mold city! I called it Zombie bud. The pics don't show the true undead appearance. Even the legitimate dead leaves looked more alive. YUCK!

I suppose it would help but, above screen growth with my 250 has me buried in more weed than I can handle. Hardly seems worth the effort. Po freezer's got too much weed :badday:

I use thumb and forefinger. Just like topping the top shoot, side shoots need an internode underneath to keep growing. If you pinch off below the first internode, whatever you pinched is gone forever.

Just a recommendation for everyone. Fan leaves on the bottom of your scrog can be left on until they are 50% yellow. They provide extra food for the plant.
