Go to the electrical section of HomeDepot or Lowes and look for a "Junction Box" or "Pull Box" enclosure. They come in all different sizes and the holes on the sides can be punched out for ventilation.

Here I am using a Junction Box that's perfect for a 400w HPS ballast.

No risk whatsoever so long as you ground the metal box itself. They are also called sheet metal enclosures.

Hey Pontiac,
that looks like a nice job, but a couple of things... 1st you want to ground the capacitor. Any capacitor or ignitor with a steel case, should be grounded to the box. Your supply and lamp wire should be rated for 105 degrees Celsius, numbers usually printed on side of cable (eg. 14/3...105c)and you want to use the high temperature marettes, they're the black ones. If you use the lower temperature rated wire the protective insulator breaks down with the heat, increasing chance of fire or electrical short. Also, you want to bundle the wires and marettes to keep them away from the hot transformer (I, zip tie them). Make sure that the mogul socket has HIGH temperature wire attached to it, don't just run your lamp wire directly to the socket base connectors. I've seen too many wired like that, where it was an accident waiting to happen. Lastly, if you mount the components to the flat cover, it's a lot easier then trying to mount them inside the box (big hands, small space).
