I picked up 8 4x8 paneling someone put out on the curb for trash.
I had several 8' 2x4 and hand full of 4' 2x6.
Cost so far is $0
Dug up a few boxes of screws around the farm.
Picked up two Sun System 150hps $78.00 each
Pots left over from last grow.
Soil $20.00
Flat white paint, laying around the farm.
2 4inch fans. One sucking and one blowing. $7.00 each ( not installed yet in picture )
18' of chain and s-hooks $11.00

those 4ichers might have a lot of toruble cooling 300w
might want to make a nice big passive intake and switch both to exhaust. If your spce is big enough you might get a low enough temp. creep that the 4iches will keep it down through 12 or 18 hours.......though when the temps get hot, you may be in for trouble.

You using any kind of filter?

check out lasko desk fans or stanley blowers for cheap/good small to medium scale exhaust if the temps become a proble. the lasko desk an has a 2 sided intake with a rectangular 4"x6or8" exhaust that pumps a decent cfm.

hopefully that all made sense......I may happen to be slightly intoxicated.......

Temps haven't dropped below 62 and haven't got above 68.
Its a outdoor indoor grow, I have the lights off from 11-7. I use the heat produced to heat the room at night.

Filter Nah! I have 6 acres, not worried about smell.

Seeds?
Not sure.
I smoked only 3-4 different kinds of bud when I was in cali and over the 5 months I gathered 5 seeds.
Trainwreck, juicyfruit, sour diesel, and couple different purps.
so, I have no idea which bags I got them from. When i collected them I didn't think I would be growing. I just keep them just because.

I have no other seeds so I am praying for a female or two.

looking good man,,, id run the lights turnd 45deg in the cab, then youd probably have better light coverage.

my 250watt cab cost me in total about £60, the 250 floodlight being £42 of that..

Dont realy need to invest large ammounts of money into it when your learning.

Sorta agree,lol. HPS will veg. you nicely, but agreed metal halide is better vegging. I would personally not reccomend cfl's for veg. unless you can find the cool white cfl's, most are in the warm(red) spectrum as is your hps so why bother with less lumens,etc . If you really want to use something other than your hps(it will work fine,btw) invest in 2 or 3 dual bulb shoplights that run the t5's or t8's flourescent bulbs. The 4 foot shoplights I have purchased as low as $5 each at places like home depot, walmart, etc.. To me a better thought would be to get a couple shoplights and add it "with" the current hps for a good mix of both spectrums. Good luck and take care, looks great btw.

not looking to be argumentative, I sorta agree Mo , but... and it's a BIG but. With a high powered CFL you can keep the bulb 5 inches from the canopy level. I don't have the figures to hand (and I hate maths) but this means that lumens are not significantly decreased because of the amount of lumens lost over dstance with using a HPS (especially when at seedling stage and the lamp must be 3 feet+ away). I'm not saying that the HPS doesnt produce more power (and probably better penetration) but the CFLs can be effective and cost a fraction to run and require next to no cooling. Also, micro growers report that in smaller set ups (using smaller/household CFLs), having multiple points of light helps increase canopy penetration, so I guess its the same if you use multiple "big" CFLs

You're absolutely right though, it's the Blue ones you want (6500k). A lot of grow shops in europe are cottoning on to these are are now selling high powered spectrum specific CFLs (red, blue and purple).


EDIT to add - this is the bit where I agree though. If I could only have one lamp, I would have the 600 HPS everytime.



the bulbs pictured below are E40 fitting and 15 inches long

p.s I run a veg cab with 200 watts of mixed CFLs and I'd be lost without out it as it means my flower area can always be 12/12. Once you reach a certain point you're no longer waiting for veg times and only waiting on flower times between harvests

as it happens, biggest isnt best in this case. I think it depends on the size of the area you use to veg in but the consensus seems to be that the ones around 50-60 watts are most effcient.. as I say though I thnk that may be for smaller spaces... check thunderkels fluro frenzy thread in micro grows mate... you'll find a lot of useful info and see the results of cfl growing in his pics (he only uses cfl right through)

I like growing on the cheap.

There is some fine marijuana made with very little money out there.

I look at some of these guys with these fancy contraptions and laugh. It's a fucking weed and will grow with very little effort.

i have 24 weeks left I can draw from Illinois, then I can draw off of California for about 7.

There have been a few times in my life that I was unemployed... I loved it. Get up and the crack of noon and go look at my projects. Then it all ends with that damn phone call with someone wanting to end it all and make you go back to work.

Wife and I have a 13 year old, and Triplet 3 1/2 year olds

I haven't noon in 4 years.
I have seen a lot of 12:00 am's.. Only time to get some quite.

lol, we're not broke. We still have an income around $3500 a month and either don't have to be employed. Don't get me wrong, we have a mortgage, car, cost of living, kids in sports, etc..
I don't consider any money used to be a waste. What was a waste was spending $400-$500 a month on smoke. I went with the 150hps because I was unsure have a 750/1000 watt system would hit our power bill. I also have plans to reuse the 150's for the mothering box and use the big boy for flowering.

I think I am going to end up cloning if I get a female, and if I get some males. Collect pollen and maybe pollinate a couple clones for seeds.

I am going to have to tear it down and rebuild it in a cooler spot..
