12 bucket ebb and grow system

If anybody has ran one of these set ups I need some advice. When I'm in the draining cycle when the cycle is almost done for some reason the pump in the 55 gal res cuts on and I have water going into the controller bucket and also water running back into the res. I don't know why it is doing this so I'm asking the friends on the web for a little help. Thanks.

You said Ebb and Grow so I assume you mean the version you buy in the store?

I have never seen one but just finished building a 24 bucket system with controller.

Do the E&G have different outlets for the different pumps? is each one plugged into the right one?

Is there one timer or two? Are the times overlapping if two timers?

where is the water in the controller when the res pump kicks on? Any relation to the position of the floats?

just 1 timer. on it fills, off it drains. have you checked to make sure the floats are facing the correct direction in the control bucket. or is the pump in the way of a float? i've never had a fill and drain at the same time. dont think this would be possible unless it was wired incorrect at the factory. with one timer, one pump is powered while the other is not. strange.

the floats are the right way, the only way i can stop the water from going back into the con bucket is to pick up the pump in the res and take it completely out of the water and then i here a noise and i can set the pump back into the water and it stops pumping water into the con bucket, very weird. it only starts to pump water back into the con bucket when it is almost done draining resulting in the pump never shutting off because it is getting just as much water as it is pumping out.

I wanna see this setup.... Largest I've ever done was 18, wanna see how your brain engineers :D

here are the pics you wanted. I just didn't want to spend the time to make one so I just bought the whole set up from Growco-supply.

Nice set up!!!One thing i would do is get the controller bucket and res:yeahthats. out of the tent though.Good luck on your grow :joint:.

Im thinking of buying one of these. Are you able to put the reservoir above the controller. I know you not able to raise the controller above the buckets.

I have the same thing. It works great (if you hook it up right, LOL!~) and has pretty much no maintenance once it is up and going. I only had 8 of the sites being used on the maiden voyage while I picked out some phenos.

It looks in the pictures like you haven't installed the spiral wrap on the hoses that are connected to the top of the resovior. Those are very important since they keep the hoses more rigid where the bend over and into the resovior. Otherwise they tend to crip shut with the weight of the water traveling through them.

The resovior is 55 gallon, but I don't think you would want to raise it above the controller. If it somehow started siphoning back to the controller it may be a real mess. But that is what that special fitting on the outgoing pump in the res. is for. It breaks the vacuum lock when the pump isn't pumping.
As far as moving the controller and resovior out of the tent, I thought of that too on mine but realized that it would probably wear the pumps out faster with the added distance. Plus they are matched to fill and drain at a certian rate and that would probably be effected with too far of a run too.
