It was nice meeting you as well. The Star Trek looks healthy and I hope it does as well for you as it has for me.

Glad you liked the Jack Herer as well. It's a very nice strain to grow, IMHO

I sense a Jack Herer tap water cloning experiment coming on. ;)

/me still can't get over the roots!

I'll attempt another bowl of JH to see where it takes me.

Thanks

Hello fellow northwesterners!
I split my time between the coast, Seaside to Tillamook, and the Columbia gorge...

Clackamas coot, I enjoyed your post regarding 'smart pots'....I love them too....Wouldn't use anything else at this point.

If one is close to Oregon Green Free's 'Big Blue' over in Southeast Portland (almost Gresham actually), they sell the SmartPots for cheap money. A #5 is only $4.00 each.

You just have to have a current OMMP card - you don't have to belong to their organization.

Thanks for the tip. I don't have a card but am lucky to have a good friend that owns a shop, so I'm able to get supplies at a good price.

how can i get in to a cup of any sort?
green_thumb

As far as I know there are 2 'cups' in the OMMP deal. OGF does the 'Caregiver's Cup' (or some similar name) and ORNORML does the 'Grower's Cup'

ORNORML requires that you be a member of their group as an OMMP cardholder. I'm not sure if OGF has the same requirement that you have to belong to their group.

ORNORML used to be $30.00 per year and when they had their monthly meetings at Mt. Tabor Theater each month and if you needed some rooted clones/plants or even cuttings it was probably worth it. When the ban on smoking went into effect that killed their monthly meetings because in Oregon 'No Smoking' indoors isn't limited to tobacco as it turns out.

OGF is $60.00 per year or you can pay by the month, i.e. $5.00 and since they have an active forum where people can exchange information on trading clones, plants & cuttings and they have a physical building where these items can be dropped off for another member under their log-in name, they may the better option if you're interested in participating in their Caregiver's Cup.

ORNORML's affiliation with Paul over at THCF is reason enough to stay away from their deal, IMHO

Haha, I get a kick out of your posts. In just the last week I have been nailed a few times, realizing the businesses and organizations I give my business to are not up to snuff.

Thanks for all of the helpful information.

I fixed my mistake on OGF's annual rate of membership.

One thing that I would 'suggest' about joining OGF and the folks who run that organization. They have a working relationship with AmericanAg's wholesale division, Rose City Wholesale meaning that if you choose to buy your products through OGF you can save about 40% on most items. Big savings if you need light ballasts, bulbs, etc.

But keep in mind that everyone in the indoor growing store deal has an agenda - including the folks at OGF. They're going to try and push the soil that AmericanAg came up with called 'Blackjack' which is a perfect soil if one is involved in establishing a breeding and research program for any myriad of mildew strains, gnats, etc.

Not to mention that the base ingredients are pitiful - #2 peat moss, a really odd source for the 'compost' that it contains. Beyond it's stupid price, $12.95 per 1 c.f. (Are they f****** kidding me?), they really make their money off the packets of 'nutrients' (basically some bat guano, kelp meal, bloodmeal, bonemeal, etc.) which you apply as a top dressing and you just water.

The original idea is great, i.e. creating a soil and a feeding program for people in the OMMP who have limitations on the amount of physical activity. That's the upside of 'Blackjack' soil. The downside is that the execution is pitiful and a better name for the soil might be 'Why Bother?'

Also in any line of specific products (like bulbs) some products provide for a larger profit margin than other product lines so buy what YOU want to buy (based on your own research) and disregard the suggestions made by the OGF folks. To say the least.

They're okay over there at the 'Big Blue' - just do the whole 'buyer beware' deal like you would with any other retailer. And understand that any plant/clone/cutting sitting longer than 3 minutes at OGF's 'clone room' will be infected with each and every problem known to any grower of a plant - regardless of its origin.

It's nothing short of amazing - plants going through OGF will be infected with something - regardless of how long it's been in their chamber.

Remarkable to say the least.

Ya OGF doesnt help you much. I am always in need of medication and they cant provide wish there was some more resources for the OMMP

Raffin-
im sure you know this. but for anyone else reading..
OGF it self has not much to GIVE except a "safe" formz/events for patients only to learn/interact/network. the org it self has no meds. donations are given from one cardholder to another. big blue might hold on to said meds or cutting till you can arrange for them to be picked up. i its kind of the slower time for med donations. in the fall and early winter they are filled like crazy. but right now im sure everybody donated most their extra meds. plus with the cup coming up im sure a few people are holding on to their samples to be entered. that might have been donated. Sorry brother. Ogf is more about teaching people to become self sufficent. and if you can produce more than enough. hopefully then u can give back alil. but every one needs to be able to take care of them selfs first. hope it gets better.

faded.

On that note, there's several sites other than OGF that do the same thing but don't require money. I'm a member of them though and can say there's nothing to be missed out on, unless outdated information is your thing.

I love ICMag for the vast amount of knowledge available. Not to mention the friendly people.
