some times i use basic Shultz cloning powder($4 from homedepot) when i want to go straight to soil(99% success accounting for outside variables(me dropping the clones etc))

also my bubble cloner cost $17 to build and works 100% of the time.

keeps em real healthy too.

I have tried rooting clones in a homemade bubble cloner, a Botanicare power cloner, Coco, and a cup of water. By far, the easiest method was a cup of water. Cut the clone, put it in a cup of water, change the water every few days, thats it. No gels, no additives, not even ph'd water, straight tap. 100% every time. But...This method takes the longest. up to a month sometimes.
All other methods i used are faster, IF they work. Its always hit/miss with all the other methods i've tried.
So...I'll take ease and reliability, a cup of water. Evl...:2cents:

I think it was DaddyHaze who just did a test between 2-3 rooting compounds and no rooting compound at all. The water had the best results. I think he used Dip N Grow, maybe clonex, another one and possibly used oasis cubes.

Anyway, I DO REMEMBER that the cuts without any rooting compound had the best results

I have used DNG in the past, then switched to clonex only cause my new shop didnt carry the DNG. Not much difference IMO but I wasnt really tracking.

I took 200 cuts of Blueberry 1/28. 50 per tray. 2 trays have clonex, 2 trays have no rooting compound. I will see which one performs better

I have noticed that I get some cuts that rot when using clonex. I wonder if somehow the gel clogs the hole in the stem and it cant take up water

Having just bought some clonex, I really hope it does something! :)

I have been using RootTech since I started cloning 5 years ago and have had good results with it every time.I always use rapid rooters but im bout ready to start using an aeroponic cloner soon. I suggest if youre a beginner tryin rapid rooters, humidity dome, tray, root tech and a seedling heat mat which is the most important part. The heat mat cuts rooting time in half. Just make sure you dont wet the actual rapid rooter more then once every 12 hours or so, only if they look and feel dry. You can use plain water but I like using a dilluted strength mix of 6.0 water with liquid karma or some kinda stimulant. Good luck

I'm curious what everybody use's for their cloning solutions do you use a gel? are you a bubble cloner kinda grower? or do you like Dip n Grow or Oliva's?? Do you think powder's are best or gels??

I've tried a few different ways to clone, started with the DrBud perlite method and had bad result's so then I tried Jiffy Pellets with Take Root powder and had a 70% success rate and then I went to a bubble cloner and had 90% for quite a while but I haven't been getting them to root as fast as I need lately to keep up with a perpetual HD SOG so I'm staggering two sets of cuts with 16 in each container using 1" Rock Wool cubes cut off a slab with Rootech gel and I'm also using 1" Oasis Cubes with Rootech as well and have had 95-100% success rate this way and I want to know what everyone else is doing cuz I'm always open to try a new way.. I noticed that clones out of the bubble cloner take off faster when transplanted and put into flower has anyone else noticed this??

Out of all the ones I've used I've ahd the most consistant results with Olivia's. There is a new one at our local hydro shop that I want to try out, Juicy Roots by Advanced Nutrients. The bottle that looks like a glue container, with the applicator style tip looks pretty convienent. I used to use the powder, but after I started with the gels I will stick with them due to the consistancy and the viscosity.
I may have missed it, but has anyone tried A N's Juicy roots yet? Looks like an interesting product.

Ok I got some Dip n Grow the other day since Root Tech went up $5 in price, I have 9 clones in a perlite cloner that I used Dip N Grow with and oddly enough that was what the recommended I put my cuts in.... I used the 10x dilution btw and will report back in a few days to let you all know how things went...

I have personally been struggling with cloning for almost a year on and off and finally got my first root today, IN 7 DAYS, using dip n grow at 20x in 1" Rockwool. :woohoo: I also use root 66 as an additive to the water, PH'd to 5.5. I was originally led on to buy rapid rooters and rootech gel, which DOES NOT work. GO WITH DIP N GROW!! I have also seen people claiming that they get best results with plain water and I am planning to try that next, will keep you all posted on that experiment.

Basically cuttings root with just plain water but on average this takes up to a month. What we are looking for in these rooting hormones is some kind of accelerator that will speed up the process a bit. Dip N Grow and Rockwool ARE the accelerators but are NOT essential, just speed up the process one hell of a bit. If you are still using gels use as little as possible in order not to suffocate the plants because that gel is NOT water and NOT what that stem wants to drink. Hope this helps save some people alot of time. I even think that the GOV. probably invented rooting gels in order to hinder people success ratio.
Beware of many products and do your research!!!
