i have a strange tale and a mystery to go along with it, i had a male plant that i had seperated from my ladies and left in a room with some floorboards removed so access to the outside is possible, it was almost completely stripped of leaves and all the tips chewed off, in fact only one fan leaf remained, sick joke, but there where no, and i mean NO scraps of leaf or bits of anything around the undisturbed pot, not knocked over with spilled coir or nutin, i have seen regular rats, pack rats, raccoons, ferrel cats, in the vacinity of my yard, it is out in the sticks, oh ya, and there was a dead bat on the floor a few feet away but i don't think it has anything to do with it, just seems that there should be some more clues, and that whatever chewed it all off would've spilled the pot and left a trail of leaf scraps, anybody have an idea? if this beast got loose in my garden.......i don't want to go there...i would post a pic if i had one...please help,jc

well obviously the cat didnt want the ladies getting any of the stray pollen so the buds would stay soft later on after they're closer to being finished. IE: the cat prefers not have those crunchy seeds in the buds... more of a plain hershey bar lover vs mr goodbars heh heh

rats mice and cats and bats have no business EVER having access to grow spaces !
They have been known to chew on or eat plants...not to mention all animals can and do carry pests, mites etc into the grow.

lol lol lol

This is a really funny thread....
Maybe a raccoon or a rabbit? How tall was the plant? When deer eat my fruit trees they leave deer poop, same with the elk...... I'd set a trap, you know what it likes to eat.....

Yea,10k, i know the grow space should be secure from pests, and the rest of it is, i usually build my rooms with plywood instead of just a frame with panda film or whatever, and i'm sure glad that is the case here, otherwise the little herb eatin' demon could cause real trouble, i do have vents cut thru the floor, maybe need a metal grate on them or something, oh ya venture you asked about the size of the plant, it was maybe a foot and a half tall above the soil line, very bushy, lotsa branches........i will take a pic today and try posting it late today, thanks for the interest. Most critters are smart enough to eat weed, lol. My cat loves it but fortunatly for me he just likes eating the leaves and he leaves the buds alone. He actually makes it easier to manicure!

I did get a pic of whats left of this plant but i can't figure out how to post it, whatever creature it is came back two nights in a row and munched some scrap leaf i left in the same spot, last night i set a rat trap with some leaf material as the bait, felt kinda bad doing this, almost like i was trapping something like me......when i check it later i will post my findings, hey if anybody can give advice on pic posting i'm listening, J

thanks ninj, i guess the mystery is solved the trap sprung and the big ass packrat is dead, caught with a bait of potleaves, i feel relieved but kinda regret killing a fellow weed fan.....didn't really have a choice, here's the pic's, first the plant as i found it, and then the rat as i found him this morning.

:violin:didn't want the little chewwer gittin in here...

RIP

LOL! I was going to guess a rat! We have had our share in our yard one actually chewed a whole in the window screen so it could get into the garage and promptly made a next under my hood!

That RAT got what he deserved for being "A RIPPER" !

Now, he's got several buddies who can smell a snack and WILL find a way in if they can.
All it takes is a quarter inch under a door for example to squeeze themselves into the grow.
Keep several traps baited with peanut butter in the room and you'll find out about the rippers friends and family.

I had a rat destroy my greenhouse, I had some dwarf trees in there I raised from seed and literally had YEARS invested in, that fucker ate them all in a weekend while I was away.

Kick that dead rat once for me.
