Tent Equipment

Sleepiesthead - Don't rule out going all the way thru flower with T5's - I added a small 2' 4 bulb T5 to my 400W hps closet when the 6 girls in there got too big for just the 400. Side by side, the T5 with the HPS worked out beautifully - the 2 kush girls under the baby T5 produced beautiful, hard flowers - was actually thinking of using that type of set-up in the DR150W with a 400W between 2, 2' 4 bulb T5's, but the effencienty of the 600W light systems really intrigues me.
Oh, by the way - a 4' 8 bulb T5 will run just as hot as a 400W HPS - my 4' 4 bulb version in my veg area needed 2, 80cfm fans to barely keep even with outside temps. Also, when I bought both my 4 bulb T5's, I got 3 red & 3 blue bulbs for each since I always run mixed spectrum in veg & flower & I was too poor to get 2 full sets of bulbs.

NorCal - you're a man of steel to be able sit on brand new growing equipment for more than 15 minutes - I'd go crazy just lookin at the un-opened boxes!

Nah if I did that then I wouldn't be able to use my T5's for vegging at the same time as I'm flowering. Thought about it though

well im thinkin about doing a dr 80 with a 400w to save some money. then when that grow is over i can use the dr80 for clones and holding moms,

then get a 1k dr 150 or maybe if i have enough from my 400w grow ill get a dr300w with 4 600's

or should i just save my money and wait till i can afford a 1k grow????

the thing is im about to move into a rental house and I don't know how nosey the land lord will be...

I'd probably get a couple of 2'x4 bulb T5's & use them in an exhisting closet with a simple fan/scrubber combo untill you know more about the landloard. At least you'd be growing something that you could move to an HID tent when the situation becomes more secure. It's easy enough to use them later in a small tent for clones/moms/veg - i haven't met a plant yet that didn't love T5's

I set up a dr120 recently. I used 1 6in eco-pluss fan in my set-up which is rated at around 440cfm or something close to that.

I hung the scrubber up inside the tent, and butted my inline fan (with speed control) directly to it. In other words sucking through the scrubber, and pushing air through the insulated ducting, through the a/c hood, and eventually on out the tent, and room. For the ducting inside the tent I used insulated ducting, but for the passive intake I used the regular cheap 6in dryer ducting through the two 6in sock ports provided down low on either side of the tent allowing for me to Keep those passive flaps closed at all times for light tightness.

This set-up is working fine for me so far, and of course was cheaper then going the two fan route. For higher wattage lights though you may benefit from the separate light-scrubber duct lines, but if your working with a budget this may be worth a shot... The insulated ducting inside the tent will help with temps quite a bit... placing intake fans on the intake ducting is another thing you could try.. even those cheaper suncourt duct booster will do some good ramping up you intake for a larger lights/exhaust fans, but for my situation with the 400, and decent exhaust fan, the passive is working just fine.
