~*~ Green Smoothie Thread ~*~

E

EatCannabisRaw

The purpose of this thread is to talk about green smoothies.

I've been experimenting with eating raw foods as a way of expanding my consciousness, having more energy, looking better, feeling better, etc.

About a few weeks ago, I decided to make a green smoothie. I guess I'd heard about them for so long, but never tried them. Figured, why not.

After drinking my first green smoothie, I noticed a distinct feeling inside. It felt like I was being centered, but in a VERY deep way. Hard to describe. I also felt a bit more calm.

Since then I've been experimenting more, and have definitely upped the amount of greens I'm getting in smoothie form. Since then I've noticed pretty amazing benefits. I say amazing because I think they are pretty amazing. Not many things are truly amazing. There are a lot of health supplements and things you can take, but green smoothies, in my own experience so far, are at the top.

Another thing I noticed, is green smoothies remind me of weed in some ways. And I got to thinking... they are both green. Its just a peaceful energy.

So I'm going to just write a basic green smoothie recipe, that you can try, and then I'll include some youtube video links to watch people talk about green smoothies.

Basic Recipe:

Blend:
1) 1-5 leaves of kale
2) a banana
3) some ice
4) maybe fruit juice

REALLLL simple. You can start with lower amounts of greens, until you body starts actually craving them. I notice greens are sorta salty-ish, and there are lots of minerals in them. After a week you'll see what I'm talking about.

Here are some youtube video:

Making Green juice with hemp flower and leaf (obviously you can do this with smoothie):

So there are some videos, there are lots to watch, and try reporting back here if you try it.

Peace and Green

A GREAT addition to smoothies is hemp seeds, an excellent source of protein and omega 3 fatty acids.

P.S. you avatar is kool but your old one suited you really well ECR.

Awesome thread I got into juicing but now I want to make some green smoothies as well. Its a real nice feeling too. Get the auger juicer because they crush and you get more juice. Also with the typical juicers they lose vitamins when the blade spins so fast. Lets see more green smoothie recipes.

Heres what I like to juice

fennel
carrots
celery
cucumber
apple
spinach
parsley
pineapple

wheat grass when im feeling brave

bumble buddy - yeah man...my old avatar was like, the older me. i guess i feel too good now so i need a new one. just haven't had time to get a new custom one.! Yeah though, I sometimes put hemp oil. I really want to just put hemp flowers and leaves once I'm able to (can't cuz of court right now)

strainsearcher! - yeah man, i want to get into fennel and parsley...as parsley is hella cheap, i hear. even better i just want to start finding wild free greens other than what my garden offers.

Okay, another thing you can try is putting some flower buds in your smoothie...I think it may add a kick. Need to experiment more. I'm not even talking weed but any bud that is edible...like i'm experimenting with basil buds.

i used to do some juicing, but cleaning up my juicer made me quit....then i got into smoothies.

..usually frozen berry, banana, milk, yogurt stuff....still too much cleanup

...now i just drink green apple slush from sonic (does that count?)

nokuy, lol...not really. man i guess your thinking of cleanup off all the produce (like putting it back)...cuz honestly, all i do is make smoothie, pour in glass, then rinse out the smoothie blender jar thing with water and thats it. if you do it right away there is virtually no cleanup.

ECR good thread  ,,, I know I don't have em as often as I'd like to.... I like the idea how you can disguise the taste with diff stuff simply by adding fruit.
Hey strainsearcher, is there some way to work out if a juicer/blender is destroying vitamins?
yeah that flat leafed parsley has stacks of vit C.

Start by blending the fruit first with ½ to 2/3 of the water to make a base, then add the greens and blend up until smooth.I use the ratio of about 50% fruits to 50% veggies and you can vary that to taste. It has to taste good or what’s the use right? As you can see below, spinach is a favorite of mine though I do vary my greens daily.

Apple Banana Green Dream
1 med to large apple peeled and seeded. (Leave peel and seeds if using 3hp blender)
1 ripe banana
1 half ripe avocado
1 piece of fruit of your choosing. I've tried a handful of grapes a few guavas or a pear and they've all been good.
¼ to ½ a bunch of spinach, leaf stock and all.
16 oz of water.

Blend the fruit with some of the water first to make the base. Then tear up the spinach and fit it in till it all blends adding any water you have left. And there you have it, a delicious green power smoothie!

The Papaya Pear Green Delight
1 large or two smaller ripe pears
1 small to medium ripe papaya (slice in half, seed then scoop flesh)
½ avocado
3-4 good sized leaves of romaine lettuce
1-2 small bunches of Spinach (2-3 handfuls if you buy bulk leaves)
16 ounces of clean clear H2O

Blend fruit (avo is a fruit) and 2/3 the water until smooth. Tear up the greens and fit them into your blender with the rest of the water. Blend up good until leafy pieces are gone and enjoy your creamy green papaya delight. These are recipes that you can use with almost any blender. Keep it simple and get started with what you have.

I made the first recipe today, my first green smoothie. I liked it so much that I really want to start every day with one, I feel like it made a difference in how I felt today as compared to usual.

What if I were to replace the regular greens with fresh trimmings? It'd be a pretty safe way to get rid of your veg trash, digest it. :rasta:

bounty29 - i would write a story about an experience i had with raw weed, or multiple out of this world experiences, but probably no one would believe me.

try out some of the trim...but trust me...don't use a lot :D ... u may find beneficial to add a few raw eggs or a fat source of some kind. although i'm not sure its necessary, i haven't gotten to experiment because I plain have not been able to.

http://www.cannabis.uk.net/raw cannabis/RAW CANNABIS.htm

check that out... some of the stuff he has written about, i have literally experienced. thats all i'll say!

it all inspired me to create this username...to spread the word. but since then i haven't been able to experiment and..well...soon enough.

So it was just eggs, papayas, and a little bit of trim? That sounds easy enough to replicate, of course I doubt it would be the same as all straight from the ground in Hawaii. I've got a couple girls in veg that are getting pretty bushy, maybe I'll throw in a few big fan leaves in my next green smoothie.

Great idea for a thread, there was a pretty good response to green smoothies in that other thread, I'm sure this one will take off!

yeah man, awesome. i'd be interested to see how that works out. i'm jealous for sure.

Sure just get the juicer that has a turning auger instead of a spinning blade. The spinning blade juicers always end up bending and grinding up plastic anyway. Here is a link also you can juice wheatgrass in the same juicer. For single auger the omega is the best . There are plenty to choose from here.

I like this green smoothie a lot, really nice in the morning:

1 slice of melon, ca. 100g
1/4 avocado
1/2 kiwi
1/2 tsp ginger
1 tsp honey
1 1/2 dl green tee

EatCannabisRaw

Sounds nice. I want to start putting a bit of avocado in mine also. Ginger is great definitely. I like just slicing ginger root in there. The vitamix handles it nicely.

ECR - Was the trim you used fan leaves and stuff or was it trich covered leaves off of mature buds? I like the new avatar!

Hey bounty, I'm pretty sure it was the sugar trim...stuff off the buds I think mainly. Today was great. Very chilled all day pretty much. Didn't use caffeine so the green effect was more evident... didn't even crave caffeine at all.

I ate some buds off basil plants this morning and got a really good energy from that. The secret is to really chew and juice them in your mouth. The stuff was so strong in my mouth, kinda like how strong an espresso is... interesting stuff. Had more green smoothies. I got a bunch of people I live with into them so I drink different blends all day it seems. Its great. Peace!

Hey ECR- You say you've got a vitamix? I inherited one from my family, a total nutrition center. It's the bees knees as far as blenders go!

I used to make breakfast smoothies with rice or soy milk and frozen berries and other fruits. Put a little psyllium in for a fiber kick and some vitamin powder for good measure.

One of my favorites is chocolate soy milk, a banana, and some crunchy natural peanut butter. Yum!

I used to do the wheatgrass thing, too. Never seemed to be able to keep it up regularly, but that was before I was a grower.

You eat basil flowers, eh? I'll have to try it. Any info on its benefits?

Good thread!
