Kiddy Pools for Drain table???

Hey just wanted to know if you guys think this would be a good and cheap way to make your own table to put a sog on under a 1000watter? I bet it would work well. Does anyone know if there is someone doing this now? :rasta:

Kiddie pools would work, and I've seen people use 'em as a giant runoff catcher, but the thing I don't like about them is that they're not too rigid. You could either get yourself a bulkhead fitting for a buck or two, or find another way to plumb the pool for drainage.

But through all this, keep in mind that real flood tables will work excellent, are built better, will last practically forever, and is also retains 50%+ resale value after you're done with it. In the future if I so choose, I can also use it for other purposes such as actual E/F (rather than just catching runoff for top-feed). It will also make your life a bit easier...

A new 4'x4'x7" white Botanicare table w/ fittings runs me $85, and I can easily resell it for $50+ used (so it's really costing me $35 to use, in a way). How much does a kiddie pool cost?

I used to it in the good ol days. I have used them for trays, runoff and resivoir. They do break down in a fairly short period of time but you can complete a couple runs no problem. You can also line them with pond liner. If you look around at a few different stores you will find some that are a little thicker and better quality. If you are using them as a tray you will need a good flat surface underneath like the ground or a table.

Last I checked, pond liner is roughly $10 per foot (10ft width), and covering a 4' diameter table will generally require about 5-6 ft of pond liner... or $50 - $60. Of course with that, you can cover two tables (assuming 5ft is enough), but let's just say $25 (even though it will still cost you $50 to cover just one table, with scrap left over to double up with or whatever). And let's say $25 for a kiddie pool. Now what you have is a $50 (minimum; $75+ more realistically) piece of crap that isn't going to last nearly as long as a real flood table, and also make growing (and your life) a bit more difficult. And no one's going to buy it off of you once you're done.

Remember TCO: Total Cost of Ownership (or alternatively, Operation). Don't fall into the trap of doing things half-assedly just because it's a little cheaper up front, only to have to do it again, and again in the future...

Or put another way, "How come you never the money to do it right, but you always have the money to do it over?"

Clowntown: 4'x4'x7" white Botanicare table w/ fittings it is! I can see myself going and going and changing and going and using and never selling cause i want to put my cash in the right spot the first time!

PharmaCan: Good point!

Case closed and please guys when I do get my setup going (as i am new to coco) chime in like you did. Its a diff world over in the coco threads! Hell if your up for it i will just post what i got going on now and we can get the show on the road! Hell i will post it now!

1. PBPgrow and PBPbloom

2. Botanicare Coco

3. Botanicare Supplements Kit(cal/mag, clearex,hydrogaurd)

4. 6 3gallon pots

5. OGxblue sat 2.2 (spice of life)

Plan is to run a hand watering /waste to get this coco thing down. This shit will be at the door as i am having it overnighted. If you guys have some better way to go about it speak up. Also if you think it would be rather easy to do a drip system for a person with a few DWC grows under my belt lets do it. I have the pumps to do it so all i would need to get would be tubes and shit like that. Let the help start guys!

bambam, looks like your ready to hit the ground running brah! We'll hold your hand along the way, no worries hehe.

And big props on the 4x4 table. The shit is simply a life-saver. And it allowed me to go about techniques that I would not have been able to do on the floor of my closet hehe. Anyways it led to an eventual doubling of yield on only my 2nd run in coco.

Vegging is all about your strain. Gotta know your strain. Just by observing them in their early stages, you should get an idea of how fast they grow.

What is the plan exactly? 9 bushes under a 1kw, in 3gal's? I think 3gal is a good enough size for coco.

If you really want to know the entire plan i will lay it out for you.

Point#1 Keep two males(at diff location for pollen collecting)

Point#2 Get how ever many females i get out of 5 beans that i will be pop knocked up!!!! The way i will do this is the ol pollen in ziplock bag. I dont want my entire crop seeded. Place ziplock bag over bud and mark it with a ribbon on the branch. I want more seeds of this cross!!! Looking to find a real good keeper in them.

Point#3 Make the switch from DWC(has be kind to me but)to COCO

Point#4 Get 6 4oz plants or 9 2oz plants under the one 1000watter. (in dwc and with my dsd i have hit far better numbers)

Point#5 Do it all agian!

Note: i will be doing my vegg under a 600watter! I also got my overnight!!! Will be getting solo cups and getting this started today! So happy. First up 2 grape krush beans, then the ogxblue sat 2.2 Get here seeds dang it! :jump:

9 plants in 3 gal's vegged decent & in COCO sounds like better than 18zips to me =).

Sounds like you got this thing locked, stocked & 2 smoking barrels heheh.

You starting a thread in COCO or DIARY's?

If i can get clowntown down i may do it in this thread!!??!!??

Oh and just to let ya know i am going to just get up off may ass and use my Dj gear on the first coco run. Grape Krush!!! (want to save the ogxblue sat 2.2 for the DWC cause i know it better) Dont know if you guys want to see it but I kinda do. I was going to run this back in the day but popped five and all five came out boys. So I have five and will bust three more to see if i can get a HOE! I think i am going to ease into this coco thing. If i make it close to my dwc marks i will run the ogxblue sat in coco then.

First off little bean get your ass in the ziplock bag! Done

Second off i just added some ph to 6.0 RO water to my coco! less than a gallon due to the fact that i am starting them in 16oz cups.

First Q? Should i run a tiny bit of cal-mag or should i just soak and rinse?? I see so many diff people doing diff things at this stage is why i ask.

Get back at you all later hope to see some people get on this grape krush train! :rasta:

Grape Krush!!! :headbange Oh man... I've been eyeing that pack for so long now... :yummy:

I'm glad you're stepping up and doing it right, and you'll thank yourself for it in the future when you don't have to replace cheap crap over and over.

I've read from credible sources that it's good to rinse with a weak Cal/Mag solution on new batches of coco, but I've never actually done this myself.

I can't wait to see your GK show!
