Hey I'm having a hell of a time trying to figure out which carbon filter to go with. I know the can is reliable but there are others which have their advantages too. First of all I'm broke and am going to have to go credit card on this so I am trying to atleast get a good deal but I don't wanna skimp and get crap. Already went down the crap route with an elf.

What I'm mainly wondering about is the Carbonaire by eco plus. I've seen a few people around using them but havn't heard any reviews really. They seem cheaper than the others which is scary but I know they hold a good amount of carbon.

I'm also wondering about the PROfilters put out by Atmosphere the makers of vortex. I like that they are reversible and refillable and they don't seem too pricey. Anybody heard anything about these or tried these. I can't find anything about how long they last or how much carbon they hold.

I'm not set on a certain filter so I'm open to other brands as well. I don't even have my fan yet so I'm really open. I will probably end up getting a 6in vortex though.
Any and all ideas, opinions, and suggestions are more than appreciated.

In case you're wondering, this is for a 4x4(about) closet with a 400hps, not air cooled for now.

Thanks
Peace

I saw they had pretty good prices online, wsn't sure if they were legit

They have 2 shops close to me. I never have used their web site.
Really good prices on some items.

I bought a dutch breeze a few years ago and I still don't smell anything. I'm moving more air now and fixing to invest in a larger one. Its all I've used so its all I can speak of from experience. I also pre-filter my air through the high dollar central heat/ac air filters so my high dollar filter doesn't get clogged with dust.

cool
I've had trouble finding cfm ratings for them. They suggest the 50 or 70 for the 6"vortex but I con't find the difference between the two.

I made my can filter from parts at home depot, under $50 easy, carbon was the most expensive.

on a 6" vortex, the scrubber is 18" long, 8" outside diameter, with a 6" inside, I used an 8 x 6 reducer to connect to the vortex. works very well, I change out the carbon once a year.

I was looking at making one but it seems like it really isn't that much cheaper. I figured i could just buy a good one once and refill it after that. To me it seems like they are about the same price in the long run if you refill the one you buy.

by the time I got done, probably cost the same as the $150 I modeled it after :bashhead: seriously tho, I think I saved 50%, but I like customizing to fit my needs.
