How much cooler is a Digital 600w HPS? Compared to non-digital?

I measured the case of both a 600 digital (Lumatek) and a conventional magnetic with a very accurate infrared thermometer. Each was 105F. The big difference I saw was the magnetic was 4 times the size and can only estimate due to the increased mass that the magnetic put out about 4 times as much heat. When you grab a Lumatek it FEELS cool because you are not grabbing the case but the cooling fins.
There are many threads here that will provide a wealth of information regarding the pros/cons of e ballasts so start looking.

Lately when someone asks a question like this there's not much response as it's been covered repeatedly. Use the search function and type in 'digital ballast' then scan through a bunch of thread titles to find what you're looking for.

i have them both..personally i prefer the digital ballast because it is less warm and much smaller.
