hello everyone!! hope you all are well. so i have recently gotten my medical card and will be moving end of june into a new house where i will be for many years to come. i am constructing a room in the garage that will be 8'x6'x71/2' tall. I will be using 2x600watts and be venting with a vortex 8" fan cfm 747. I will most likely not be doing a sealed system because i will not be using CO2. so i will have filtered intakes somewhere around the bottom of the room.
my main question.

if i can have only 6 plants flowering at a time i thought that i could do a perpetual grow but with big plants would be the best way to get the most possible. i would be topping and using a bit of LST as well.

if anyone has any comments i would appreciate it
thanks

Not that I have much experience, but it sounds like you gotta grow some TREES to get big yield in that situation. I would maybe consider runnin 2 cooltubes in the milddle of a triangle (2 trianges, 2 lights) of big trees? Veg till 30 inches, then flower?

If you can only have 6 flowering... OR you could do a really big SCROG, like veg it up about 2.5 feet, then top it, get the branches out around a bigass screen and get all your 'tops' at even heights and put the lights a little closer and watch it go bananas.

I can see you having a lot of vegging going on to get solid yields from 6 though.

thanks for the response gnarly. yeah i thought i would have to veg a ton in order to get the plants up to size for flower. I would really like to pull atleast 4oz per plant. Not to much but enough that if they dont veg long enough they wont produce.
i will probable section off a part of the room so i can veg 3-4 of these trees at once.

any other ideas as to how i could position the lights so i get maximum light? i was just going to run em end to end so that ventilation is easier. Or would it be better to put them side by side?

thanks for the help.

bearfootlove thanks for the idea. i have researched stadiums alot. that are really cool to see but wont really work for me. dont you need lots of plants for it?? perhaps i am mistaken

either way my grow style will be big trees with LST i believe. i will use LST to gain more budsited. maybe even try supercropping or something like that.

thanks for the comments bearfootlove

My suggestion would be to rock 'em out big bush style (4-6ft.) in big organic (live) soil tubs, i.e., ~15 gal rubbermaid tubs. Re-use the soil and do a little composting and you'll have no waste and you'll only have to buy ocassional soil amendments as far as medium goes.

Topping severely retards veg time however it may be necessary to get enough strong branches going. Definitely utilize some training, just to even the bushes out a little. I always preferred a little supercropping action or HST (high stress training :nono: )

Put in one bush every 10-14 days (depending on flowering times) until you have six, at which point every 10-14 days you harvest a bush and put a new one in to start. You would only need one mother (per strain) and a couple plants in veg at any given point in time, and never more than six in flower.

Done right you should pull at the very least a few ounces, much more if you get the stain(s) dialed.

This would give you the potential for 6oz or so of fresh nuggets every week and a half.:jump:

Hey, worked for me. :headbange

I should add that it really helps to have a big veg light.

I had a 400HPS and 175 MH for veg. Once they get going (veg) under a 400 HPS they really take off, then you throw em in the bloom room and they explode since they are already acclimated to the big lights and are growing vigorously.

thanks for the help pigpen!! i really appreciate it. thats pretty much what i needed to hear. it confirms the ideas i already have.

I think i am going to make my room 8'x8' that way i can section it off with an additional wall to make it both a flower and veg room. I will have a 400watt hps/mh probably running on MH for 18/6 i will be able to veg around 3-5 plants in the 3'x6' space and when they are ready move em out into the other room that will be 8'x5' with the 2x 600watts in there. Should be real nice.

thanks for the help and anyother comments are welcome. I am going to try to upload a picture i drew for a little better understanding.

thanks again guys.

well i drew up a sketch of my room. i changed some things and it will be much better overall.

It will now be 8'x8' and will have both a veg room and flower room all in one. heres the picture and then i will go into more explanation.

well there it is
like i said there will be 2 rooms. the veg room will be 3'x8'. i will put my 400watt in using a metal halide bulb. I should be able to put 3-5 plants in there and let them get nice and big before flower. There will be a large intake vent and the doorway will be covered with black plastic till i get a cheap door in.
the flower area is now 5'x8' and i will probably only use about 5'x6'. In that space I will have 2x600watt lights with aircooled hoods. it gives me about 40 watts per square foot. maybe even more because i wont be using all that space. I plan to keep the plants in 15gal rubbermaids like pigpen suggested. Thanks Again for that!!! This way I should be able to get some nice big plants and even bigger yields.
All three lights will be hooked up to one 8" 747cfm vortex, it will also have a speed controller. it will exhaust the heat back into the garage for now. I also will have a window AC unit that will be blowing into the flower room when needed and there is also an intake in the flower room.
I will construct the room of wood and then insulate followed by drywall. then seal all the cracks and paint it white.

The window in the room will be boarded up.

This is my plan. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. As far as I can see there wouldnt be really any problems with this room. If you find some or think i can improve i welcome it.

thanks

Sounds like you've got it pretty well worked worked out now.

However, It looks like you can't get into the veg room without going through the bloom room. You may find this frustrating since you can't get in there to work during 'lights off' in the bloom room.

Now Rock that shit! :headbange

Thanks guys.. i appreciate all the encouragement

As of now I wont be moving till about the end of june. inbetween now and then i need to save up at least $1000 (I already have $250) this is for
2x600watters
1x8" Vortex
Additional fluros and such
Wood (have a good supply already)
Soil, nutes, and anything else like timers.
oh....and i think a dehumidifier......if someone could soundoff on this i would appreciate it. as far as i have read they help a great deal.
fans for circulation

i think thats about it....hahaha quite the list..haha

not too bad

i have one serious question though.

The only hps i have ever bought was off of ebay from HTgarden supply. for this grow i wanted to spend more on my lights because the HTG seems kinds crappy. not that it doesnt work but i want something thats got a good warranty and such. i am buying 2 600watters and wanted to know of a good site that has them. And yes i have looked around for them and found many, but i want to know if there is a site you know is good and that have decent prices.

if someone can get me that i will be very grateful.

well thanks for the help and the encouragement

Dehumidifiers definitely work to draw excess humidity, so if you have mold issues it would help. Otherwise i wouldn't bother. Takes a TON of energy (it's an a/c and a heater in one appliance) and they create a LOT of extra heat. There's no substitute for strong and thorough circulation.

Havn't bought grow stuff online in years but Worm's Way is great. And yeah, don't skimp on light systems, especially ballasts, if you can help it.

I had another question that goes along with the last. When it comes to 600watters i have seen them range from $300 to $600 per light. This is by choosing different ballasts, hoods, and bulbs.

Does anyone know what or where a decent deal for lights are??

thanks

good luck with your room. Growing only 6 large trees is a pain i know! It seems like you have a solid plan down. A dehumidifier is a good idea if you can swing it, on my wish list for sure thanks to nonstop monsoons :joint:

Check out organic hydro for a few plants to grow monster trees.

thanks bajasauce. i have been thinking about it. perhaps down the road after i get in and start getting more money. i think hydro would be awesome in a room my size.

these are 1000's though

heres the other kind i have in the back right, that one is switchable from mh to hps and its runnin 220 as well
